2012 Darts Premier League Betting Preview

The line up for the 2012 Darts Premier League has been announced and its a star studded group of the eight best players from 2011 that have been given the nod. Premier League Stalwarts such as 15-times Champion of the World Phil Taylor (15/8 with Skybet) and the winner of the last two PDC World Crowns Adrian Lewis (4/1 with Skybet) are joined by fellow potter Andy Hamilton (25/1 with Skybet) who finished as the runner-up at the Ally Pally just a couple of weeks ago.

Other returning favourites are James Wade (8/1 with Skybet) who lost out to Adrian Lewis in that controversial semi-final in Worlds as well as Raymond Van Barneveld (16/1 skybet) but the big Dutchman is not in the best of form now and his price has rightfully drifted, an early exit before the new year saw to that – you can never really rule out a five-times World Champion though, form is temporary class is permanent.

The Defending Champion is Scotsman Gary Anderson (10/3 with Skybet) is a clear second favourite in the markets after his consistent 2011 season saw him finish in fourth place in the World rankings behind the three aforementioned Englishmen Taylor, Lewis and Wade.

Just behind Anderson in the rankings ladder is the likeable Australian Simon Whitlock (7/1 with Skybet) who shone on debut but fell agonisingly short of making the semi-finals night. The World No.5 did have a solid PDC World Championship though before being ousted by Andy Hamilton in the semis.

Its going to be tough to pick a semi-final line up at this early stage but obvious favourites will be Phil Taylor with his awesome record in this competition, Adrian Lewis being a two-time and current World Champion will be in there too but then with the new editions of Kevin Painter (25/1 outsider with Skybet) Andy Hamilton and the mis-firing Barney its going to be all to play for in the battle for the last two places.

To Finish Bottom

Slightly different take on the competition but if you are bored with looking for value at the top with Phil Taylor always being a short priced favourite a look at the wooden spoon race that’s showing Andy Hamilton to be a joint favourite to finish bottom of the pile with Barney who are both a 12/5 shot with Bet365, Kevin Painter is slightly bigger at 5/2 and to be fair you can discount the rest who best priced at 8/1 bar.
