Liverpool V Manchester United FA Cup Betting Preview

Anfield
Saturday January 28th
Kick Off: 12.45pm
LIVE ON ESPN

A highly charged atmosphere between two local rivals is everything you want for a decent televised cup tie and we certainly have one here as Patrice Evra returns to what will be a cauldron of hate from the Anfield faithful in the 4th round of the FA Cup.  United come into this game in better form in recent weeks but Liverpool always seem to raise their game when coming up against their biggest domestic rivals.

Everything points to an extremely tight game as the last seven times Liverpool and Man Utd have played in the FA Cup, the winning side has won by a single-goal margin and on two of those occasions after a replay.

Manchester United have beaten Liverpool on eight of the last nine occasions the two sides have been drawn against each other, twice after replays and twice in Finals in that run.

Liverpool have won two and lost one of the four FA Cup matches played at home against Man Utd in the FA Cup.

Liverpool go into the game on a high after hanging onto their lead in midweek to defeat Man City in the League Cup whilst United scored an impressive win at Arsenal last weekend, they have a clean bill of health whilst United have doubts over Phil Jones and Wayne Rooney for the tie. United may go with Javier Hernandez as has scored in both of his visits to Anfield (7/1 to score 1st, 9/4 anytime).

Betting Tips

With everything pointing to a close game I just can’t get my head away from thinking this game will end a draw, the last two meeting at Anfield was a very close affair and I can see United being happy to take this back to Old Trafford. The Draw can be backed at 12/5.
