The live football action on Monday night sees Nigel Pearson return to his former club Southampton with his under-achieving Leicester side who are hoping to de-rail the Saints promotion push.
For the first time since the opening month of the season, the Saints go into a game to find themselves not leading the division after West Ham’s victory over Nottigham Forest on saturday sent them to the top of the league. They will be confident of bouncing back to the top tonight as they look to build on their outstanding home record at St Mary’s.
Southampton manager Nigel Adkins may hand a debut to Spurs loan midfielder Yago Falque for this game. He is handicapped by the absense of top-scorer Rickie Lambert who finishes a three-match ban and defender Jose Fonte is doubtful with a toe injury.
Leicester have problems of their own with Andy King’s Achilles injury leaves the Foxes down to the bare bones, new signing Danny Drinkwater is expected to play, striker Martyn Waghorn is still not fit, while defenders Sol Bamba and John Pantsil are away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Betting Tips
Only one way you can go in this match, Southampton have been impeccable at home this season winning 11 of 13 and scoring over 30 goals in the process, Leicester will build to become a better side under Nigel Pearson but they are not on the same level as Southampton yet. The Saints at 10/11 is the bet to be taken.
