Victor Chandler Chase Betting Preview

Eight runners are set to go to post this Saturday in the Grade One Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot, the race in recent years has been monopolised by Champion Trainer Paul Nicholls.
This year in the absence of previous winner Twist Magic and his injured stalwart Master Minded, Nicholls will this year rely on promising novice Al Ferof at 11/4 to fly the flag for the Ditcheat team although many feel he is harshly treated in the weights considering his age.
With that in mind that bookmakers have put in Nicky Henderson’s Finian’s Rainbow as the 9/4 favourite to win the race, a nine-year-old gelding who has won five of his last six races and also has a win to his name at Ascot in a novice hurdle.
Other contenders in the race are the always strong travelling Wishful Thinking at 6/1 and Somersby at 13/2, whilst both horses have ran to extremely good levels in the past, neither has managed to reach top form so far this season and this race looks to be between the front two.
Betting Tips
Although no one rates Al Ferof higher than me and although I think he can go on to be the best chaser around I think he’s going to have a very tough job seeing off Finnians Rainbow at these weights, I expect these two to contest the race and for Finnian’s Rainbow to be too strong at the business end of it, Somersby should have the neccesary quality to run on for third.
